It speaks volumes of our foreign policy that we give out ambassadorships as a political reward. The US does it too, I’m sure. But I doubt if it’s in the same scale as ours.

I think poor Noli honestly doesn’t know what he wants to do. He’s just doing his best to stay out of the minefield – at least as he perceives it – to keep his options open. My prediction: he’s thinking plum ambassadorship (US, EU, UK, UN), or major cabinet post like DFA or DILG.
