Traditionally, every Filipino male 1st born is offered up to the Political gods and is made to run for office, in some way, shape or form (case in point above, but is Mar R. a 1st born? How about Mikey? Or Sonny? Maybe even Willy?). We're kind of like the Irish but instead of preisthood, our calling is either to the upper house (or lower house if we really have to start from the bottom), then we eventually earn prominence in the political arena not for our public works but who can sport the tightest shirt in the senate (when not in session, of course - see Chiz Escudero and company).

It is funny how the Indio population gauge our local political heroes. Use a little product to shine up the hair, do a few push ups to pump the guns and barrel the chest before coffee at a hotel lobby, don a short sleeve plaid shirt by Faconnable, then it's off to the races.

Image is everything and if those political aspirants knew that from the get-go, there would have been a heck of a lot more smartly dressed kids in the late 70's at my pre-school.

I digress.

I say go out and exercise your right to vote and cross your fingers Johnny's suggestion will remain as such.

Let's take a better alternative to political dynasties and elect into the presidency a candidate that isn't hungry for power, one that doesn't have the urge to steal public money, one that is impossible to corrupt!

It'll be like that game show My Dad Is Better Than Your Dad.
In which case, Mikey wins by default. But only by default.
